Like most people, my knowledge of Archduke Franz Ferdinand (Carl Ludwig Joseph Maria) of Austria stems from his distinction as being the primary catalyst for the start of World War One – via his (and his wife’s) assassination in Sarajevo in June of 1914. Thanks to the ever-accessible internet and the ease with which one can now expand one’s knowledge of all things both trivial and profound, I learned from his bio in Wikipedia that he was also a pathological hunter. The Archduke is known for personally killing over 300,000 animals during his years as a one-man extermination machine. In light of this, I thought it would be poetic justice to have his head mounted on my wall wearing a lovely set of Fallow Deer Antlers – 🙂
(The Archduke is available for purchase for $685.00. If you reside in the Greater Vancouver/Victoria region there will be no cost for delivery, otherwise, delivery charges may apply. Either way, please contact me to discuss arrangements: George Bathgate at shavasana9@gmail.com or 604-418-3846.)
